Download Information

Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer can be downloaded for free personal use from company homepages*, from ZDNet Software Library and from CNET's Downloads.Com. Because browsers handle graphics, sound and other features while providing a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for interacting with the web and your computer, they are very large files. Make sure you select a zipped file to download (unzip programs are also available on these sites or from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)) and/or set aside a large chunk of time (up to 3 hours for a 28.8k modem). NeoPlanet is available for free at NeoPlanet.com. It is a relatively small file and the fastest download option. It is not available for Mac.

*The Netscape homepage's version of Navigator may ask you during installation if you would like to delete Internet Explorer from your harddrive. JUST SAY NO UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT YOUR ISP's BROWSER DOES NOT REQUIRE IT TO RUN. ALWAYS SAY NO TO THIS QUESTION IF YOU RUN AOL, COMPUSERVE, OR EARTHLINK 5.0!
